A Week in Cyanotype

Having travelled to Norway SAGA Senter Inderoy, for tintype wet plate collodion workshops since 2017 under the tutelage of Jill Enfield a prominent American analogue artist.

I was able to stay for a longer period and wanted to try things out before leaving. I had wanted to learn and develop my own film photography after enjoying the community online who collect expired film rolls that add unique quality to developed images. Sadly, it’s getting on the expensive side to develop film now and the equipment is hard to come by. So I didn’t. I did order a test kit of cyan tope A+B from a nearby studio in Kristiansand Silver+Light.

Scouted the area for some natural foraging of goods to use for the cyanotype. I picked up some seaweed and other dried grass of frozen snow. Then I created a zine and ended up making a fold out. Using Fine Art Cartridge paper. The zine used water crystals after I had picked something I thought was a small winter berry was actually frozen and melted on the paper. I also used another seaweed piece but it didn’t turn out as good as the first attempt. I also ended up slightly exposing after leaving out the jar of the chemistry underneath a UV lamp in the darkroom.
